One of the problems with having to record in small spaces and studios is that your tracks can lack ambience.
It’s easy for both drums and vocals to sound disconnected from a mix, and getting them to sound like they go together can be very challenging.
In this video, our Professional Mixing Coach, Pete Dowsett goes through exactly how he solves this problem. He goes through the different ‘room size’ settings you can choose using the LX480’s control panel. And then selects one size for his vocals, and another for the drums.
This takes the track from sounding flat and compressed to being much more rich. It actually gives the impression of being in the room with the band.
After you’ve watched this video. You’ll know how to pick the right ambience for your tracks, and you’ll also know how to select one type of ambience for one instrument (drums) and another for a different one (vocals).
This gives your track an incredible amount of depth.
